Location

Benguerra is the second largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago, approximately 60 km2 large. It is famous for its unspoiled white beaches, spectacular moving dunes and a diverse range of habitats for exotic and endemic wildlife. remarkable dive sites and excellent fishing. The island is a truly a secluded paradise without shops like in the western civilization, please bring everything you may need with you, especially any medication. You will reach Benguerra with a comfortable2 hour’s flight from Johannesburg.

Relax and Dine

Azura's public areas are right on the beach and open to the sea. There are different zones for relaxation, from the comfortable lounge area, to the vibey star bar. The Jellyfish restaurant serves breakfast and more formal dining experiences. In the media room you will find a TV and internet access to keep in touch with the rest of the world if you need it.

Spa

Azura's uniquely African Spa offers signature treatments based on local ingredients and traditions. These include being rubbed down with ground coconut shells, covered head to toe with tamarind and aloe, or gently massaged with warm marula oil.

There is a one treatment room at the Spa and couples treatments are usually possible, dependent on how many therapists are on the island. In Villa treatments are done as a compliment.

Families

Families are very welcome at Azura. Villa Amizade and the Presidential Villa are best for families, although our Infinity Beach Villas can accommodate an extra bed without compromising guest space.

Beach Villa – for 2 adults
Set in a fantastic beachfront location at the end of the property close to the Spa with plenty of privacy – great hideaway for honeymooners. The villas feature a private plunge pool, day bed, sun lounger, king size bed, shower bathroom, separate toilet and outside showers for her and him.

Luxury Beach Villa- for 2 adults
The contemporary villas are just steps from the beach on 450 sqm ground and 100 sqm living space – with 1 double room with shower bathrooms and outdoor showers for her and him.

Infinity Beach Villa for 2 adults
They are furnished in afro-contemporary style and look out over a stunning infinity pool towards the beach and sea beyond. They have the best of our beachfront locations. 650 sqm private area and 5 m infinity pool are the highlights.

Royal Beach Villa – for 2 adults and 2 children
Features an infinity edge pool and magnificent sea views. 172 sqm interior living space makes it the largest and most lavish of all the villas, with 30 metres of picturesque beach frontage on a large beautifully landscaped plot. The bedroom is connected to the lounge area via a walkway with glass sliding doors, and surrounded by indigenous gardens. The lounge comprises of comfortable sofas around a flat screen television, and has its own bathroom and the sofas can be converted to two beds for any children that may want to share.

Villa Amizade for 4-5 persons
Villa Amizade means friendship villa in the local native language, Portuguese. This 2 bedroom en-suite villa is located at the western end of the property, with fantastic views out to sea and towards the setting sun. It is perfect for families or couples requiring more space and facilities. It offers a sitting area with flat screen TV, DVD, Sound Dock and selection of games, opening onto extensive decking, dining and relaxation areas, including a ‘wine bar’. You can opt for a private chef service, available at a supplement.

Presidential Villa for 6 persons
The Presidential Villa at Azura has been described as one of the best villas anywhere in the Indian Ocean. It has a very secluded private location, some 150m down the beach from main Azura, and comes with its own Butler-host and private chef. The epitome of style and luxury, with its own unique décor on 450 sqm with 3 en-suite bedrooms, indoor and outdoor bathrooms, a media room, sitting/dining area with ‘wine bar’, and huge infinity pool spanning the front of the villa. It is located just footsteps from the beach at the end of our property to ensure maximum privacy, with a fantastic treehouse to catch the afternoon breezes and panoramic views to Bazaruto Island and the Indian Ocean beyond.

Service

You will be allocated a Mozambican Host during your stay. The Host is entirely responsible for “adopting” you and creating an unforgettable holiday experience for you. Most of the Hosts have English as a second language and many have only been communicating in English since their employment at Azura. Some understanding around this may be required. However the generosity and kindness with which you will be looked after will be difficult to replicate elsewhere.
